Mall of America Field

Home to the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings and the U of M Football Gophers, the HHH Metrodome, called the Mall of America Field, officially opened in April of 1982 and remains the only air-supported structure among the 28 in use today.

The facility rests on the east side of downtown Minneapolis, less than 15 freeway minutes from Richfield and provides 64,000 seats in the arena plus 98 suites.

A total of 7,600 retractable seats in right field allows the Metrodome to be converted from football to baseball (or vice versa) in four hours.

To avoid the parking challenges and costs, the new Metro Transit light-rail line which opened in 2004 can be accessed at several south Minneapolis locations including Mall of America and takes you within steps of the Metrodome.

Target Field

Target Field is the home baseball park for the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It will open on April 12, 2010. It will be the franchise's sixth ballpark since its start as the Washington Senators, and the Twins' third in Minnesota after 28 seasons at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

It is the first facility built specifically for the Twins, as Metropolitan Stadium was originally a minor league baseball park, while the Metrodome was built as a multipurpose stadium for the Twins and the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League.

The stadium is a 39,504-seat open-air ballpark in the Warehouse District north of Downtown Minneapolis between 5th and 7th Streets, across Interstate 394 from the Target Center.  The Twins have opted for a "neutral" park which favors neither hitters nor pitchers; the Metrodome was often said to be a "hitter's park", favoring the offense.

Fan amenities are to be designed after those of the Xcel Energy Center in nearby St. Paul, the second most recent major sports venue built in the area with Xcel Energy Center opening in 2000. Although earlier proposals called for the park to be built with a retractable roof, the current version of the park has neither a roof nor provisions to install one.

Target Center

Located on the west edge of downtown Minneapolis in the bustling Warehouse District, just 10 freeway minutes from Richfield, Target Center opened its doors October 13, 1990.

Home of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Lynx since their inception, Target Center features 18,467 theatre-style permanent seats and offers 12,000 parking spots within three blocks.

Target Center is also host to the annual Minnesota High School Girls and Boys Basketball Tournaments.

Other Target Center attributes include 20 concession stands, 18 escalators, nine elevators, plus an 11,000 square foot lobby featuring one of the largest neon sculptures in the country.

Those wishing to avoid the challenges of downtown traffic, parking and the like can take the new Metro Transit light-rail system to within steps of the Target Center and is easily accessed at Mall of America.

Xcel Energy Center

Xcel Energy Center is located in downtown St. Paul, fifteen minutes from Richfield.

Home to the Minnesota Wild, the facility provides 18,600 arena seats for NHL games and is adjacent to the RiverCentre Convention Center and the Roy Wilkins Auditorium Complex.

This popular facility is also the venue for a variety of other entertainments including concerts, ice shows, circuses, trade shows, auto and boat shows, to name a few.

Those wishing to dine at the Xcel Center may enjoy the Iron Range Grill or Headquarters Bar and Restaurant.

Parking facilities include 2,200 spaces on site and an additional 8,000 within five blocks.

Williams Arena

Located approximately fifteen minutes from Richfield, Williams Arena is located in the heart of the University of Minnesota Main Campus.

Home to the U of M Basketball Golden Gophers, the auditorium seats 14,625 and, due to several renovations, this historic arena has remained among the finest in college basketball.
